I am one of the newer additions to Service Fellows. I did manages to get some community service hours in with this hectic last couple of weeks. I was a helper at the Special Olympics in Annapolis, Maryland. It was an extremely long day. We arrived at 8:30 in the morning and were there until about 3:30 in the afternoon. The whole day was dedicated to swim meets. I played the role of a security guard and made sure that only the midshipmen, coaches, and athletes went down the hallway to get in line for the next heat. Many people were rude because I would not let them pass but, I was just following orders I was given. The overall experience was amazing. Some of the swimmers were older and some of the swimmers were young, either way, you could see the passion and excitement in their eyes. They were always smiling and always made conversation with me as they walked by and I was still at the same post. I would definitely do this again!
